There is absolutely no empirical evidence of life after death, though there are certainly many who believe in it.   Maybe it's because we think we're just too important not to live on in some fashion.   Most people don't like to think they might loose their individuality ....their "ME".    It just wouldn't seem fair after the life time they've just spent trying to figure out who the hell they are.

I do think it's important to realize that whatever does or doesn't happen at the time of your earthly departure, it's going to happen, or not , whether you believe in it or not.   And if you agree with that premise, it should free you up to look around and see what's available to believe in while you're here.

There are a lot of old, new and funky belief systems out there and if you feel that you absolutely must make a choice, for heaven's sake (and for obvious reasons) try to choose one that makes sense for the long run.   This is particularly important if "The period of time you believed in it while you were alive" might be a factor in whether it will "take" or not... you know...when it's time to go.

You can't always count on the oldest beliefs being the best.   I can't think of any area of knowledge that hasn't been added to or improved upon over the last Millennia or so.   The choice shouldn't necessarily be a belief that some large group of people have latched on to either.    In case you haven't noticed:  Any given group of people will appear content and confident with the choices they've made, simply because they've all decided to believe in the same things ....at the same time. Group-self-confirmation if you will.    (Please note that people can be talked into believing anything; so, just because they appear content and confident, it doesn't mean they're right.)

Your choice certainly shouldn't be one that you're afraid NOT to believe in.  There are so many people out there making that error every day.   Any decent psychologist will tell you it's unhealthy to make choices out of fear (or guilt ).   So don't be afraid.    In fact, I'll give you my personal guarantee right now that when you die, every dimension of the Universe will continue on exactly as it is suppose to whether you've chosen correctly or not.

You should also know that whatever choice you do make, it won't screw anything up for anyone else living now, or in the future... or in the past either for that matter.    By the way, did you know that the best scholarly estimate of human beings having lived on this earth is @ 110 billion.   I don't know if that means anything, it's just interesting.    I'm absolutely positive that a whole lot of those folks thought about this kind of stuff.  Gee, all those life times...and deaths....you'd think we would have a general consensus about this by now.   I wonder why we don't.

Do me a favor.   When you do die, and if you find yourself lounging around in some After-death or Afterlife program, look around for me.    Maybe we can get together and establish a new definition for the whole idea of "dead" and figure out a way to pass it along to the ones still alive.    It's just too confusing the way it is.   "Afterlife" sounds so pious....and rather anticlimactic.  "After-death" sounds way too empty.   Maybe "Dead: phase 1"....or "Life: phase 2".....or something.

"During the entire life span of the planet earth, it’s estimated that about 110 billion human beings have
had the opportunity to ponder the question of life after death.  There is still no universal answer.   No
facts nor proof that can be shared....at least by the living.   We just don't know.   Individually, we
believe in one thing or another... or nothing at all."
